Svidník Airport

Letisko SvidníkSvidník Airport is operating since 1990. It has taking off and landing runways (TOLR) with dimensions of 1200x30m (3 937x98.42ft) having resin surface that have daytime designation markings which are in compliance with the regulation of L 14 - Airports. There are also taxiway and apron which have been reconstructed in 1992 so that they would comply with the regulation of L 14. In the south-east part of the apron there is a hangar with dimensions of 12x15m (39.37x49.21ft). Airport fields are provided with sewers. It is also provided with water hook-up and fixture for electricity with its own electric power transformation substation. The entire area of the airport can be accessed from the city of Svidník through nearby road and driveway. The area of the airport includes declared protection zones and because of that it was necessary to carry out clearance of some part of the forest cover which is being found behind the northern part of TOLR (taking off and landing runways).

The airport is not used for regular passenger traffic or cargo and freight transportation and does not provide any services related with these activities. Chief pilot is being responsible for any flight delays carried out on the airport. Svidník Airport does not operate on the bases of international air transport. The airport is mostly being used for flights by SNA (Slovak National Aero-club).

Airport’s category indicating danger and risk when there is a fire is CAT1. The Fire Department of the Slovak Republic provides technical emergency services. Svidník Airport operates under lease from the local authority in Svidník having contract on securing technical, fire and emergency services.

The airport is operated and managed by non-governmental organization „Aviatik Klub Karpaty“ (Aviation Carpathian Club) under a lease with the airport’s operator.
